PAPUA New Guinea’s premier women’s football competition will open its second transfer window from Jan 1-7 during the Women’s National Soccer League (WNSL) break, says the sport’s national governing body.
PNG Football Association (PNGFA) competitions director Paul Isorua said in a statement on Sunday that all franchise owners and stakeholders had been informed of the recess and the resumption of the WNSL.
Isorua said the break, which started last week, would continue this week for the Northern Conference while Southern Conference would have a three-week recess.
The Northern Conference is expected to resume with matches played on Saturday (round four) and Sunday (five) on the weekend of Jan 9 while the Southern Conference will resume on Jan 16 (four).
Rounds four and five of the Northern Conference will be played at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium (Jan 19) and the PNGFA Academy outside Lae (Jan 10).
