Woman accused of stealing cash appears in court

A WOMAN appeared in the Waigani Committal Court for allegedly stealing money from a shop and giving it to her boyfriend.
Imelda Tonny, 19, from Abau, Central, worked as a cashier at the Jade Island Ltd supermarket in Gordon, Port Moresby.
She allegedly made arrangements with her boyfriend who went into the shop and got some food items worth K26.
The accused pretended to serve him and gave him K1300 in cash. She left work after an hour without telling her boss.
Shop manager David Kunini later found that K1226 was missing from the till where Tonny was stationed. He checked the CCTV and found that Tonny gave the money to a young man, who was her boyfriend.
The accused was arrested and charged.
She told Magistrate Cosmas Bidar that she had not received her file from the police and three months had passed.
She wanted the case to be struck out.
Bidar did a final adjournment to Friday.
