A-21-YEAR-OLD woman charged with wounding another woman at Hohola 1 in Port Moresby on July 29 appeared in the Waigani Committal Court this week.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar adjourned the case of Ruth Smith, from Aiyak village, Lagaip, Porgera in Enga, to Nov 15 after she was alleged to have stabbed Joyce Henry in the back with a kitchen knife.
The incident occurred at around 3am during an alcohol-drinking session which Smith had with some of her relatives at Hohola 1.
Smith’s husband was reported to have been drinking with his friends around the same area.
Police claimed that Smith walked up to Henry and began scolding her for no reasons and began accusing her of having an affair with her husband.
Smith then left Henry and went back to her house.
After an hour, Smith was alleged to have returned from her house, approached Henry and stabbed her in the back with a kitchen knife.
Henry was transported to the Port Moresby General Hospital for treatment and discharged after treatment. Smith was arrested at her home.
She is on an extended K500 bail and will return to court on Nov 15 for mention.
