WAIGANI Committal Court Magistrate Paul Puri Nii on Thursday arraigned a 24-year-old woman charged with wounding another woman.
Magistrate Nii said on April 17, Pricilla Steven, from Hurup village in Aglimp, Jiwaka, was arrested by police at Pari village, Moresby South, for allegedly wounding Janet Yutikas with a kitchen knife.
Yutikas was at her home when she allegedly overheard Steven talking about her.
Yutikas confronted Steven and an argument ensued.
During the argument, Yutikas called Steven a “parasite” and tried to assault her with the help of another woman.
Steven defended herself by using a kitchen knife to slash and wounded Yutikas on her head.
The matter was reported to the police and Steven was arrested and charged with unlawful wounding of another person under Section 322 (1) of the Criminal Code Act.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Nii adjourned the matter to August 16 to allow the police enough time to complete their investigation.
