A WOMAN charged with attempted murder has been committed to stand trial by the Lae Committal Court.
The woman is alleged to have committed the offence on Feb 24.
Magistrate Pious Tapil committed Julie Nama, 36, from Biwat village in Angoram, East Sepik, to trial in the National Court on June 6 after finding sufficient evidence to support the charge.
Magistrate Tapil told Nama that based on the medical report and examination provided, the victim could have lost her life if she had not received emergency medical attention.
“You had the option of reporting to police but you decided to take the law in your own hands and now you will be tried in the National Court,” he said.
Police alleged that on Feb 24 at 13A market in Lae’s China town, Nama approached the victim Christine Oida and started an argument with her.
The victim and Nama’s ex-husband had allegedly talked about Nama which angered her and she stabbed the victim twice with a knife, once in the hand and once in the abdomen.
