A 28-year-old woman has denied cutting her husband’s left leg during an argument in Baiyer, Western Highlands, last Tuesday.
Rose Thomas appeared before Mt Hagen District Court magistrate Lydia Karre on K500 bail yesterday and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police alleged that Thomas, on Aug 20, cut the left leg of her husband Thomas Onge.
Police said the incident took place at Sikisa village in Lumusa.
She was arrested and charged under the Family Protection Act.
Karre adjourned the case to Sept 23.
In another case, a young man was jailed for a week for stealing two piglets worth K150 each from his father.
The court found Rams Wanis guilty yesterday.
Police said that on Aug 18, Wanis stole the piglets in Jiwaka and sold them for K100 each.
“As a young man, you must learn to look after yourself, your parents will not stay with you forever,” Karre said.
“Your father said that you always stole from him, this is not good.”
Karre told Wanis that as a grown up, he should stop his bad habits and learn to respect other people’s property, including his family’s.
“If you come back to this court, I will impose a much tougher penalty on you,” she told Wanis.
