Woman killed over K20 in another domestic violence case

A woman in her 20s had her forehead chopped with an axe by a man at the Ova village of Gulf during an argument over K20 last month.
Gulf commander Inspector Silva Sika said the K20 belonged to the woman but the man allegedly took the money and bought homebrew at a neighbouring village and drank.
When the woman questioned him, the man got an axe and swung it towards her forehead. Sika said the woman died at the Kerema General Hospital from loss of blood.
“The deceased had left her billum in the house and went to make sago in the bush when he took the money and bought steam with it,” Sika claimed. She was married just recently.
The suspect escaped but was later arrested by the Kerema mobile squad and is in custody. He is yet to be charged.

  • Murder related to consumption of illegal home brew and drugs are at its highest peak in this country and the government must seriously do something to control it. It needs to impose severe penalties like life imprisonment or the death penalty must be executed and carried out as soon as possible to send warning to others.
