Woman need love, protection

Letters

VIOLENCE against women and girls is a major problem that is eroding the moral fabric of our society and it should be effectively addressed.
While relevant stakeholders have and are trying their best collectively to solve this issue, dealing with the root cause should be the way forward to reducing and eradicating this social problem.
When issues are dealt with at the root level, the chances of regrowth is terminated and recurrence is prevented just as an uprooted tree won’t bear any fruit.
Men are predominantly the perpetrators of violence mostly because of ignorance and they should not be disregarded nor out-rightly blamed for their misconduct.
The cure for ignorance is knowledge and it is the lack of it that is responsible for destroying people’s life as the Bible confirms in Hosea 4:6.
A husband is prone to resort to violence against his wife because he does not understand his real nature and value as well as the uniqueness and worth of his wife.
He may be struggling and unaware of his inner unresolved issues and of the unseen forces that are behind his evil and aggressive reactions.
The same may also apply to the wife whose wrong actions at times are prone to trigger negative responses from her husband.
Undealt emotional or spiritual issues, negative upbringing and life experiences contribute to post traumatic stress disorder are the root causes of violence.
And all forms of negative reactions need to be addressed through relevant counselling sessions.
Jesus Christ’s encounter with a woman caught in adultery as recorded in John chapter 8 decodes the right way for all men to behave towards a female.
Jesus protected the woman to show men their responsibility to protect every woman and girl from injustice and mistreatment because of their fragile state.
The Bible encourages husbands to dwell with their wife with understanding and honour them as they are the weaker vessel which mean that they are fragile, delicate or damageable (1 Peter 3:7).
Jesus protected the woman because he knew that the woman’s primary need is to be loved and to have a fatherly figure who would care and protect her. The reason why the woman became promiscuous was probably because she lacked the love, care, protection, provision and understanding that she was supposed to receive from her husband.
