RENTAL Cars  are thriving business venture in the Highlands and many people who pass through any of the provinces are heavily dependent such services.

Angela Korowa is one such local businesswoman who owns and operates the Bunkoma Hire Car in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands.

After leaving formal employment Korowa bought a 10 seater to start her business.

Amazingly, it picked up quite well having customers week in week out. But she realised that with just one vehicle she could just not meet the growing customer demand.

She approached the notable commercial banks in Mt Hagen hoping to get a loan to buy additional vehicles but she was not able to meet their stringent requirements so she shelved the idea.

After learning about the National Development Bank (NDB), she decided to visit the Mt Hagen branch and try her luck.

“When I walked into the NDB Office, they saw me as I came, someone genuinely interested to do business and needed financial assistance,” she said with a smile.

“Several weeks later my loan was approved for a five-door (Toyota Landcruiser) marking the start of a wonderful business partnership between NDB and I,” Korowa added.

Her first loan was obtained in 2010 for K75,000.

“I feel more confident to do business and expand as I have the support and financial backing of the NDB,” she said.

“I owe my success to NDB particularly in giving me the much needed financial assistance to grow.”
