A WOMAN was allegedly slashed by a reserve policeman at the Gordon police station when she refused give him money he had asked for, police said.
Officer in-charge for minor crimes Senior Sergeant Apollos Terry confirmed the report and said Jane Kwim was slashed over the wrist with a knife and later treated at the Port Moresby General Hospital, while the alleged offender could not be found.
The reservist had arrested two women for fighting and took them to the police station from Gordon.
The two women were betel nut sellers on the street.
“He asked Kwim for money and when she refused he slashed her with a knife,” Terry said.
Terry said a police unit was sent to his home to arrest him but he was not around.
The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
“We want the victim to come forward to us and give a proper report so that we can help him sort out the problem,” Terry said.
Kwim said: “While I kept nagging on the police to arrest her, the officer got a knife from the woman (another vendor) and shot on my neck. I put up my right hands to protect and the knife landed on my wrist.
“There was blood all over my body. The police called an ambulance that took me to hospital.”
