BARBARA Nuabi came to Port Moresby for her medical check-up this break and ended-up winning the last Isuzu D-Max in the City Pharmacy Ltd and Stop and Shop Christmas promotion.
“This is my retirement vehicle, as I am due to retire in a couple of years,” she said in Port Moresby on Thursday.
Nuabi, a mother of five, has worked with the New Britain Palm Oil Limited in Kimbe for 30 years.
“I live in Kimbe, I came to Port Moresby for a medical checkup trip and few days later, we came shopping here at Stop and Shop Central Waigani and that’s when we got the scratch and win cards.
“Each day I had to go to the hospital and afterwards the first place would go to was Stop and Shop to pick up groceries, fruits and other things to go home.
“I have a company car and a private car.
“Now I do not have to use my savings to buy a new car,” she said.
“I have five children, my eldest daughter works in Port Moresby and the rest stay with me in Kimbe and my niece, Erica Siming, came to look after me when I was in the hospital, we spent just about K400 shopping and received eight scratch and win card.”
“At first I thought it was a toy or remote vehicle or sometime like that, I did not believe that we had won it, and the next day on Thursday, after another visit to the hospital, we walked in very quietly, we went to customer information and took the card and gave it to the young lady at the counter and she smiled at me and said I’ll get the manager, that was when it sank in that I had won the major prize.
“The sales manager had a chat with me and I thought we were going to drive out immediately.”
“We go shopping and drop in our receipts, but I never thought I would win something like this.”
