PAPUA New Guinea women’s rugby sevens coach ElenoaKunatuba is not giving her players any easy go.

Kunatuba, after returning from a recent development workshop in Auckland, New Zealand, said there was no room for complacency for players named in the train-on squad.

A 28-member squad was submitted to the PNG Rugby Football Union board to endorse last week and is yet to be confirmed.

For the rest of the year, the PNG Palais have two upcoming tournaments to prepare for – the Oceania 7s in October and the Coral Coast International 7s in November.

These two tournaments will help prepare the team for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

Kunatuba stressed that the two main events ahead of her were the Pacific Games (2015) and the Olympic qualifiers in October next year.

Meanwhile, Kunatuba said there had been some changes made to the new squad and she was looking forward to seeing what the new players had to offer.

“The next few months of training is going to be tough. Four players have been allocated to try out for one position so it’s going to be very competitive,” Kunatuba said.

The Fijian also said in the past weeks of the Capital Rugby Union women’s competition, there were some players who had been outstanding week in week out.

“The talent displayed in the local  players is huge but a lot of work is still needed.”
