I SUPPORT the call made by the coach of the PNG women’s under-20 football team upon their arrival from the recent tournament in New Zealand, where  the  girls came in second after the Kiwis.

Congratulations to them for doing well.

The PNG women’s soccer team has been the most successful team in the Pacific for a number of years  now,  yet they are not accorded  the support they deserve.

We are seeing so much money being pumped into the men’s game, but the results have shown that it is the women who do really well in the region, winning many titles from the Pacific Games.

It is sad that relevant authorities and corporate companies are blind not to support the women.

Therefore, something needs to be done to give women’s soccer support and take the game to the next level to close the gap between our team and the New Zealanders in the future.
