Women can use Apec for marketing: Eoe

Apec is an opportunity for women in business to expose their trade, says Minister for Youth Religion and Community Development Soroi Eoe,pictured,
He said this in Port Moresby yesterday when addressing 25 women entrepreneurs from across the country who were undergoing training on how to present and market their products during the Apec Leaders’ Summit in November.
Eoe said September’s Apec women and the economy forum which he would chair, and the summit, would be a great avenue for that exposure.
“PNG is very privileged to have this opportunity to have this Apec meeting taking place in this country to expose us to the outside world,” he said.
“You are one sector of that exposure. There are other bigger sectors.
“Look at the agriculture sector, fisheries, mining, transportation which are also part and parcel of this big meeting that is taking place.”
Eoe said there were unique products that could be exposed such as bilums, crafts and cosmetics. “We have not really ventured into it for various reasons,” he said.
“Sometimes we feel that we cannot succeed.
“It is a matter of perseverance and I thank some of you who are going out and competing in the international market.”
Eoe said competition and continuity mattered.
“There are similar products outside,” he said.
“How do you compete with other economies who are doing the same thing? It is a big challenge, but at the same time we have to also harness the technology.
“Technology is important to expose our talents, our authentic products to the outside world.”
