Women in politics need support

Letters

AUSTRALIA, New Zealand and Western Samoa have shown the world and the Pacific that women can be just as good as male counterparts in national, regional and local politics.
Australia has clearly demonstrated that in the recently concluded national election, with women who have now become a dominant force in Anthony Albanese’s Labour government.
For women in PNG these cases should motivate them to becoming successful in politics and making it a life-long career.
Of course, life in leadership and politics is not a smooth journey.
It requires commitment and dedication to overcome challenges and sacrifices along the way to be successful in politics to serve the people of this country.
New Ireland is one of the provinces, which had not had any women national politician since 1975.
Women in politics in the south of PNG, should serve as a useful reminder to all the people of the province to rally behind and vote for women who have raised their hands to stand in the national elections.
