PAPUA New Guinea High Commissioner to Australia and Femili PNG patron John Kali says women farmers are now producing top quality coffee in Western Highlands.
“They must now work together to produce top shelf products for the country,” he added.
Kali spoke in an inspection visit to help raise funds for Femili PNG, a non-governmental organisation providing help to survivors of family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea.
He said PNG and Australia had signed a long-term economic partnership agreement to protect, promote and empower women and children in 2020.
“I accepted the offer to be Femili PNG’s patron because I realised the important role they were playing in this space, but more importantly to develop and encourage stronger partnerships between the Government, business houses, NGOs and the communities.
“I hope to help promote and strengthen Femili PNG’s ongoing efforts in helping women and children experiencing family violence” he added.
Ukuni One Woman in Coffee & Farmer’s Association chairman Rachel Joseph said coffee was an important part of communities.
