A COCOA cooperative society in Morobe wants to see women participating in cocoa farming.
Jerry Zeneng, the Babuaf cocoa farmers’ cooperative society chairman in Lower Watut, Bulolo, said women participation in cocoa farming was determined by men.
“According to our culture, it is always men who are the head and women just follow and become his helping hand,” he said.
They want women participating more in the cocoa project.
“We have women who have lost their husbands,” Zeneng said.
“We will make sure they are encouraged to take part in the project.”
Zeneng said the group planned to assist widows and vulnerable people in their areas.
