Women with disabilities need help from relatives

AN organisation is calling on families of women living with disabilities to help them.
Bulolo District Disability Association president James Wanaki and board chairman Gibson Seseru Pakiabi called on the families to afford them special care.
“Families and care-givers must not leave women with disabilities unattended. They are special. Women living with disability are vulnerable to threat and harm. They need strict and careful attention from relatives,” said Pakiabi.
The association made the call following the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl living with disability by a man in Manus.
“It doesn’t make any sense to pick on impaired women,” he said.
