THE national women’s soccer team secured a convincing 4-0 win over Tahiti on Friday.
Maegan Gunemba opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal and another goal was added on two minutes later by Selina Unamba to extend PNG’s lead to 2-0.
Ramona Padio had a field day after she bagged two goals in 10 minutes to give PNG a four-goal lead in their second match.
Padio scored a double in PNG’s 5-2 win against the Solomon Islands last Monday.
Coach Frederica Sakette’s team take on Vanuatu today at 12pm (9am PNG time) in their third pool match of the tournament.
The women’s side will be counting on Padio and skipper Deslyn Siniu to set their depth in attack with Lucy Maino controlling PNG’s defence.
Meanwhile the women’s assistant coach Margaret Aka has maintained that despite two convincing wins from her team, they remained grounded and that they took every game as a finals match.
