Wong: Report misconduct

HEALTH and HIV-AIDS Minister Jelta Wong is urging people to report any cases of malpractices at health facilities to provincial health authorities.
Wong said provincial health authorities (PHA) were there to investigate any claims of malpractice.
“If issues or concerns cited are criminal in nature, they must be raised at the first instance with the provincial health authorities,” he said in a statement.
He said one of the core functions of the authorities was to deal with reports of maladministration and malpractices. “That is why we have PHA boards and CEOs (Chief Executive Officer) deemed as department heads supported by a team of senior executive management, three directors, deputy secretaries for clinical services, public health services and administration or support services.”
Wong said medical supplies came under the auspices of the director for administration and support services. “Any serious allegation can be verified by the PHA board and then registered with police for investigation,” he said.
Wong said they were trying to restore public confidence in the delivery of health services in the country. “We want to ensure reliable, transparent and accountable services reach our people in the urban areas of the country.”
