THE economy is definitely slower than it has been in previous years, however there is still work happening around the country, according to Pacific Energy Consulting (PEC).
PEC is an engineering, procurement, construction and contracting services provider.
PEC general manager Corey van Genderen said: “The economy is just not at the explosive rate that everyone would obviously like it to be to support the growth of their businesses.
“Our company grew tenfold from when I started with them in early 2016 until late 2019, however we have experienced no growth between early 2020 and now, which shows that things have slowed.
“For us it’s stable with only fairly minor fluctuations in staffing levels and requirements.
“We have been greatly supported by PNG business through this time and we have tried to do the same for them. We are buying more locally now than we had previously, and we will continue to do so into the future to help support local business and economy as a whole.”
He said business had been tough for the company with the downturn in the economy over the last 18 months.
“However we have done all we can to adapt as best as possible without laying staff off.
