PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill has launched the K77.8 million construction of new four-lane road from the Erima roundabout to the 9-Mile junction in the National Capital District.

It will replace the three-lane road from Erima to 9-Mile.

NCD Governor Powes Parkop said the three-lane road was built with a limited budget and need to be upgraded.

Parkop said there would be two more roads constructed taking the total cost of the three new roads to K300 million.

He hoped that the understanding between him and the government would eventuate in signing three more road constructions by Friday.

The total cost for all the new roads is K500 million and although O’Neill said this was too much, he said the city was growing and more roads and other infrastructure was needed.

Dekenai Construction managing director Matthew Fallon was grateful for being awarded the contract and promised that the road would be of top quality and completed before the deadline.
