PNG Energy Workers’ Association has called on Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and Chief Secretary Manasupe Zurenuoc to resolve the petrol crisis in Port Moresby immediately.

General Secretary Santee Margis said it was a critical issue and they were calling on politicians to stop blaming each other and work together to find the solution.

“We don’t want our financial members to be victimised by this situation. Puma Energy has been good to us the unions in coming up with an amicable solution to stand down workers for three months on full pay. They came to us in good faith and are providing alternative, credible and worthwhile solutions to the workers.

“Politicians as duly-elected leaders must be men enough to cope with these kinds of situation. It’s no use pointing fingers at the past governments, the crisis is at hand, during your term fix it,” Margis said.

He said as the chief referee and linesman – O’Neill and Zurenuoc – must address the PNG petrol issue in an orderly manner.
