Workforce survey to be conducted

National

A labour force survey will be conducted by the National Statistics Office in the last quarter of the year, a cabinet minister says.
Labour and Employment Minister Kessy Sawang said the timeframe for the survey was reached after she held talks with Administrative Services Minister Richard Masere.
She said they both agreed the survey should be held after the National Census is completed.
Sawang said the survey would provide information concerning the country’s workforce dynamics, job trends, lay the groundwork for informed decision-making and effective policies to promote sustainable economic growth.
The scope of the survey was also discussed and endorsed by the National Tripartite Consultative Council and chaired by Sawang on April 8.
She said the members of the council are mandated representatives of the workers’ unions, employers and selected ministers.
