A GROUP of officers from the PNG Fire Service completed a one-week writing workshop on Friday.
The workshop was to review the existing fire safety training packages used to train corporate clients, civil organisations and individuals.
“Review of the training packages is a necessary part of all training providers and the fire service is no exception,” Fire Service’s business development unit manager and facilitator Jeffery Wama said.
Wama said the workshop was to help staff with their writing skills to understand client requirements, needs and expectations, and to develop strategies to address the challenges that might arise. “We see this as an opportunity to update and align our training curriculum to the needs, expectation and demands of stakeholders. This will ensure that the organisation delivers training effectively and consistently,” Wama said.
Acting chief fire officer Bill Roo said that with the development taking place, it was important for the Fire Service to meet client expectations and needs.
“After the workshop, we will also be seeking endorsement from the National Training Council to enable the organisation to become a player and training provider, particularly in fire safety, evacuation and emergency response for both the private and public sector,” Roo said.
