World Cup arrivals continue

DEFENDING champions Germany are one of the four teams who arrive today for the Under-20 women’s  soccer World Cup.
Germany were joined by European challengers Spain and the Korea Democratic Peoples Republic on Air Niugini’s flight 393 out of Singapore.
Sweden also arrive today via Hong Kong, bringing to eight the number of teams already in Port Moresby for the U20 women’s global showcase.
Tomorrow, Nigeria will be the first African team to arrive with Canada, France and the Ghana to follow in the afternoon.
Teams already in town for the World Cup include hosts PNG, who returned from their three-match preparation in New Zealand.
Venezuela were the first team to arrive (last Thursday) followed by Brazil and Korea Republic on Sunday.
PNG coach Lisa Cole said their trip to New Zealand gave the team added game experience and they were now prepared to face Brazil in the opening match on Nov 13 at Sir John Guise Stadium.
She said on arrival at Jacksons International Airport that the trip was to find combinations and reserve players for the upcoming matches in the U20 women’s soccer showcase.
