Write more on rural livelihoods

Letters

I ENCOURAGE the newspapers to write more stories about people’s genuine struggles and hardships in life to better themselves – most often against all odds.
That is humanity on display.
This dire situation is more apparent in rural PNG.
Quite often we are addicted to talking about the gloom and doom confronting PNG including the rampant dishing out of millions of kina here and there.
When you weigh all these together, I reckon the struggles of a rural farmer, doctor, nurse, teacher and the common man – the villager – needs regular mention.
These are the people who matter the most.
Whether their local MP or their Government assists them or not really is irrelevant – they will continue to slave away (with tears in their hearts) in their humble quest to improve the lives of their lot.
That is human instinct and is irreplaceable.
From East Cape to Vanimo – from Lorengau to Daru, from Garaina to Bereina – they will always be there.
Oh Papua New Guinea – our Land.
