Yankees eye Tubusereia basketball double

TUBUSEREIA Basketball Association men’s minor premiers Yankees will look to complete the double when they meet Thunders in the grand final on Sunday night.
Association public relations officer Nanai Hane told The National yesterday that the reserve grades would hold their grand finals at the village basketball court tomorrow.
Tubusereia is in Kairuku-Hiri, Central.
The open divisions will hold their grand finals on Sunday, with women’s minor premier Erupi tipped to overcome Tribes.
In the plate finals, Gohu Herons face Boomers (men) and Neighbours meet Chauka (women).
In women’s reserve division, an unbeaten Herons face Neighbours.
Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation basketball development officer Ronnie Mea, his son Kora “Chilly” Mea and other referees from Port Moresby are expected to officiate at the grand finals.
Ronnie Mea said Tubusereia was where most of the Team Central basketball squad members were selected for the PNG Games.
