Yokomo beat Defence 6-3

YOKOMO defended their six runs to register their second win of the season against a young Defence outfit 6-3 in the Port Moresby men’s A grade softball competition yesterday.
Scoring two quick runs through top batters Micha Zale and Paul Bogan, they sounded a warning to other clubs that they were no easy prey as they took the lead 2-0.
However, that was short-lived as Defence managed to equalise through opening batters Kepas Mormor and Michael Avosa at the bottom of the first inning.
Yokomo had other plans up their sleeve as outfielder Jack Tarasomo came home for a single at the top of the second inning before David Upaupa added another in the third inning to race away with a 4-2 lead.
Defence tried their best to register runs but the Kouse brothers, Clifford and Tomu denied them through their pitching, ensuring Defence batters did not reach the first base.
Yokomo extended their score, through Joe Kudada and Micha Zale to six runs while Ben Olda picked up a single for Defence to make the score a bit more respectable at 6-3.
Attempts by both teams to pick up additional runs were restricted by good pitching from both Clifford Kouse (Yokomo) and Obed Mosley (Defence).
In other A grade games, David Manning’s Saints proved “too holy” for Manalos winning 5-1, Brown Eagles bounced back to beat big names United Brothers 4-2 while the result of the Gazelle-Bears fixture was not available for print.
