Young Rigo netballers entertain supporters with raw talent

Some of the best rural talents were on display at the Rita Flynn Courts yesterday when youngsters battled it out during the Rigo central netball tournament.
The highlight of the day was the U10 grand final, with Saroa beating Kwalimurubu 13-12. Excitement filled the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex, with Saroa’s seven-year-old Isabella Kore dominating at centre to take out the best midcourt player award.
For most of the youngsters, it was their first time playing indoors.
Kore’s efforts were commended by netball administrator Emily Taule, Rigo central president Iamo Launa and Veitu Diro, one of the pioneers of the sport in Central.
They also spoke highly of the U10 competition that had the crowd cheering for their teams.
Taule described Kore as a player with a lot of confidence at an early age. In the other grand finals, (U21) Keapara beat Goulubu 15-9, (U17) Keapara took down Goulubu 16-9, (U15) Kamali held out Garomarubu 15-9 and (U13) Gomore edged Kamali 11-7.
Launa said the competition for the senior grades and masters tips off today.
