Themed “building a better world, partnering with youth”, the day aims to highlight the importance of developing and expanding successful partnerships with young people in order to lay the foundation for a better world.
Commissioner Norit Luio said youth-adult partnerships happen when young people and adults work together in building their communities.
Luio said forming beneficial partnership is often a challenge and “robs us of huge amounts of fresh perspectives, energy, talents and opportunities to enjoy life”.
Luio said engaging young people as partners in development often place adults in unfamiliar and uncomfortable positions.
“One of the most prominent barriers to successful youth adult partnerships is the attitude that both young people and adults hold about one another,” Luio said.
Luio said adults see youths as too inexperienced whilst youths see adults as too bossy or too busy.
Luio encouraged parents, neigbours, relatives, business owners and all non-youth focused professional to cultivate the potentialities that the young people possess through.
