THE Gulf Provincial Law and Justice Sector Pikinini Soccer competition was launched on Dec 15.
GPLJS adviser Tony Basik and his officers and volunteers kicked off the competition.
Competition president Brown Sire said that the GPLJS were the major sponsor of the competition.
“This programme was introduced in 2014 by the Kerema Urban Youth and was an initiative to discourage violence against women and girls and other issues affecting people in the community,” Sire said.
Sire said they had been active for four years and were aiming to run the Provincial Law and Justice Sector Soccer Cup.
“The competition is also an awareness to students and to develop their talents,” Sire said.
Sire said that the competition involved students with a division for U10 and U13, one for U14 and U16 and one for U17 & U20.
“We have completed round one and games continue this weekend and followed by the finals and presentation of awards on Jan 8,” Sire said.
