ABOUT 380 delegates from 38 countries will attend the Commonwealth youth ministers’ meeting in Port Moresby next week.

The meeting begins on Monday and ends on Friday.

So far 38 countries have confirmed their attendance but the number may increase.

Commonwealth secretariat director of youth affairs Katherine Ellis said the meeting would focus on delivering a sustainable development for  young people.

She said it would try to establish a specific goal for youths. The main topics for discussion include youth employment and small business enterprise for youths. It will also establish a body as a youth voice.

“The expected outcome of the meeting includes the launching of two bodies – Commonwealth youth index and Commonwealth youth council,” Ellis said.

“Commonwealth youth index encompasses health, education, employment and civic participation.

“Commonwealth youth council ensures youth have a voice and that voice is addressed directly.’’
