YOUTH groups in Lae have been urged to register with the district’s youth council so they could seek help from government authorities.

Colen Otto, a community development officer with the Lae district community development division,  said youths in the 23 wards must  register their groups with the council.

He said Lae MP Loujaya Toni wanted the youths to form groups and elect their leaders as soon as possible before registering.

Otto said each youth group would work with the district administration to form a ward association to drive youth development in the wards.

Registered youth groups would undergo “aptitude testing”  before being allocated quotas for agriculture, national security, trade skills, arts/craft and music, global missions, rural heath extension officers and the national volunteer programme, Otto said.
