USINO Bundi MP Jimmy Uguro has urged young people to make money from using the land instead of attacking commuters along the Madang-Lae highway.
“From here to Usino junction, avoid stopping buses, cutting people and robbing them,” he said.
“Put your hand into the land (to) make money (from) cocoa and coffee.
“This road and (the recently opened Tapo) bridge is for Papua New Guinea, not just for Madang.”
Uguro, also the Education Minister, was at the opening of the K20 million Tapo bridge at Raicoast.
Tapo is one of the nine new bridges in Madang and East Sepik which cost around K233 million (about US$70 million).
The bridges were constructed under the Department of Works and Highways Bridge Replacement for Improved Rural Access Project funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Government.
Prime Minister James Marape said the Tapo River had claimed so many lives.
“The opening of this K20 million Tapo Bridge, is another example of our Government’s deficit budget, where we have acquired acceptable and affordable concessional financing and invested them into infrastructure projects throughout PNG,” he said
