Ywam crew help boatowners learn to stay safe at sea

THE crew members of the Ywam hospital ship recently taught local boatowners how to stay safe when out at sea.
The training was conducted during the visit by the mv YWAM PNG to Finschhafen in Morobe.
The crew members distributed boating safety booklets from the National Maritime Safety Authority and lifejackets.
They also talked on safety at sea practices, and demonstrated how to wear lifejackets.
A ship engineer from Lae, Bradley Andreas, said the booklets would help locals know what to do when in an emergency situation.
“The only transport from there (Finschhafen) to Lae is in small dinghies,” Andreas said.
“The booklets, education, and lifejackets are very important.
The crew members plan to continue the programme as the ship makes its way throughout the Southern region. “Little steps, but it’s all in the right direction,” Andreas said.
The vessel recently completed its deployment in Morobe where more than 3250 patients received healthcare and training in Finschhafen and Naweab districts.
