YOUTH with a mission’s (Ywam) dental trailer programme for schools in the National Capital District (NCD) is scheduled to resume next month, an official says.
The outreach programme manager Angelynne Limbiye told The National that the programme would restart with visits to three schools – Sevese Morea elementary and primary school, Kila Kila Secondary and Carr Memorial Adventist School.
“The upcoming outreach will provide essential oral health education sessions and distribute Colgate Bright Smiles Bright Futures packs to approximately 3,400 students,” she said.
“With a focus on aligning with World Health Organisation (WHO) treatment standards, the dental trailer will provide treatment to students in grades prep, five and nine.
“Treatment services will encompass restorations, extractions, cleaning and fluoride treatments.”
Equipped with three dental chairs and sterilisation facilities, the dental semi-trailer has been fully prepared to deliver comprehensive dental care services to the students.
“We are looking forward to the schools to do what we love. We have a great group of volunteers signed up, eager to serve and provide care,” Limbiye said.
The YWAM dental trailer initiative began with an invitation from NCD Governor Powes Parkop, who welcomed YWAM to carry out the programme in Port Moresby schools last year.
