Zurenuoc among new knights

 CHIEF Secretary to Government Manasupe Zurenuoc is among three new knights in the Queen’s Birthday honours list for Papua New Guinea.

He has been awarded a Knight Bachelor for distinguished public service, especially as chief secretary. 

Veteran Western Highlands leader and former premier Nambuga Mara and senior National and Supreme Court judge Justice Bernard Sakora have been awarded the KBE.

Mara received his award for service to Western Highlands through contributions at the local and provincial government levels, including services as premier. 

Sakora was honoured for service to the judiciary and for community service. 

British-Malaysian businessman Sir Ninian Mogan Lourdenakin, the principal shareholder and chief executive officer of MBF Holdings, was awarded the KCMG for service to commerce, particularly in agri business and shipping.

They are among the 88 people who have been recognised for their services and contributions to the country.

Petroleum and Energy Minister William Duma and Forestry and Climate Change Minister Patrick Pruaitch were awarded the CMG while Esso Highlands managing director Peter Graham and sports personality and coach Veitu Diro were awarded the CBE.

Heading the list of recipients for the OBE is the PNG Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Aisi.

Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio announced the Queen’s Birthday honours list yesterday.
