Zurenuoc seals K80.9m road deal

 ACTING Governor-General Theodore Zurenuoc yesterday signed on behalf of the State a K80.89 million project for the maintenance of the road from Ialibu to Kagua in Southern Highlands.

The contract is valued at K80,891,515 which will be funded by the State and the Asian Development Bank.

The contract is for renovation work (K72,821,460) and long-term performance-based maintenance (K8,070,055) for the 31.8km road.

The ADB will contribute K50,975,022 as a loan under the ADB Loans PNG Highlands Regional Road Improvement Investment Programme.

The Government’s component is K21,846,438. 

The long-term performance-based maintenance will be financed by the National Road Authority for K8,070,055. 

The contract was awarded to Covec (China) Limited. 

Company representatives M. Liu Changyou and Ding Shi signed the contract witnessed by Department of Works Secretary David Wereh at Government House.
