‘PNG needs people who uphold strong values’

THE Government needs people who uphold strong Christian values and work ethics to overcome challenges and problems it encounters everyday.
Pastor Vincent Miria of Pentecostal denomination said this during the monthly combined Christian fellowship for National Capital district workplace ministry held at Parliament’s State function room yesterday.
“PNG needs people like you to shape up the nation and as Christians, it is our duty to live as Christ did and become salt and light for our communities, our
workforce, our departments, our Government and the nation as a whole,” he told the gathering.
He was speaking on the theme ‘Institutionalising the body of Christ” in public sector, the workforce and institutions.
Pr Miria told members of the fellowship that God had called them together for a purpose and had anointed and equipped them to make an impact wherever they were.
“As believers of Christ never lose sight of your purpose or what God called you to do.  A salt is there for a reason -to season (or to add flavour) and preserve, and so must you.
“Become like torch bearers who light up the world in time of darkness.”
Pr Miria told believers not to be ashamed of who or what they are.
“Do not hide yourselves away in a box, be like lamps that are lit and put out in the open to give light,” he added.
He ended the fellowship by praying over the group.
The fellowship is held each month by workplace ministries, which involves groups from Government departments and statutory bodies in NCD.
Each department and statutory bodies have their own weekly devotions and prayer meetings.
