SIX men’s and four women’s teams are ready to take part in the Besta Cup Challenge finale which will get underway in Lae on Thursday and end on Saturday.

Competition manager Simon Koima said the teams were the overall winners from the challenge’s regional legs.

Koima urged teams to observe competition rules to avoid inconvenience.

“I am appealing to the teams to take note of these two simple rules.

“Each team is allowed to field only three National Soccer League players at any one time.

“All players taking part are to be registered in their own local associations,” he said.

He said failure to comply may result in the teams being penalised  and losing points in their games.

Koima said for substitutes, only three from the 18 players on the starting list were allowed to take the field in any game. He said the men’s teams would have two pools while the women’s  would have one.

Koima urged teams to play fair   in the spirit of good sportmanship.

Last season, the men’s division was won by Manus and Madang won in the women’s division.

Madang will not be attending this time but Manus will be looking fto defend their title.

The winners for both men and women will receive K20,000 in prizemoney,  while the runners-up will pocket  K15,000.

Teams finishing third will get K10,000.

The fourth-place getters will receive K5000.

The games will be played at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
