SIXTEEN firms in Lae  have entered teams in the Lae Corporate 8 Ball pool challenge for this year’s competition.

The competition is sponsored by PNG Ports for a second season.

The announcement was made last Monday during the launching, with the firm to make known the actual value of the sponsorship package at a later date.

The pool challenge, which was under the management of the Aviat Social and Sporting Club last year, will now come under the Lae Billiards and Snooker Association, with an interim committee in place to oversee operations.

The Aviat club will still be hosting the competition.

The committee is headed by interim president  Joe Tupana, Francis Papua (secretary, tournament director), committee members Arua Simoi, Frank Sogo, Jonathan Cavanagh and Poliap Pokanau.

The 16 teams participating are Gamoga Lawyers, Ela Pukpuks, Boroko Motors, Telikom PNG (Lae), Trukai, Bank SOuth Pacific, GS Marines, RECA Engineers, Paradise Consumables, Post Courier, Mapai Transport, Prima Smallgoods, JBB Investment, LBC, Sp Brewery and Able Computing.

Tupana said LBSA has been “silent” for some time but was now operational.

He said besides the four months of competition being fun and challenging, it would allow workers in the corporate sector the chance to network.
