25-year-old man in murder case denied bail

A 25-YEAR-OLD man was charged with murder and remanded by the Central Committal Court on Thursday.
Robert Jimmy, with about five others, allegedly killed Peter Bauai in 12-Mile’s Katia Farm on Sept 6.
Magistrate Marcus Nandape denied Jimmy bail because the charge was serious and postponed hearing to Jan 23.
Bauai was allegedly slashing and damaged a kitchen wall with a bush knife when a suspect, David Bawai, emerged with a spear and a bush knife.
Bawai allegedly threw the spear at Bauai which pierced through his right ear.
He then started slashing Bauai on the head and face. Jimmy and other suspects then joined in to slash Bauai with bush knives.
The assailants then fled after covering Bauai with a blanket.
Jimmy was later arrested by police.
