THE Joe Mek Teine Memorial two-person ambrose golf tournament kicks off today at Waghi Valley Golf Course in Minj, Jiwaka.
Club president Erwin Us told The National yesterday that 40 teams from Port Moresby, Eastern Highlands, Chimbu, Jiwaka and Western Highlands would compete in the two-day tournament.
He said Dream Inn was sponsoring the event with K20,000.
“We will have five teams each from Port Moresby, Eastern highlands, and Chimbu,” Us said.
“The rest will be from Jiwaka and Western Highlands.”
He said there were prizes to be won at every hole.
Us said the course was in good condition to host the tournament.
“On behalf of the club, I want to thank (Kerenga) Kua, the management and staff of Dream Inn, and Robert Bradshaw for reviving the Waghi Valley Golf Course,” he said.
Us said the tournament was the biggest sporting event in Jiwaka this Christmas and that he was looking forward to a good turnout.
