FOUR schools have been closed after landslides blocked a road, affecting more than 5000 people in the Imbonggu district of Southern Highlands.
Three sections of the road have been affected by landslides.
Imbonggu MP Pila Niningi said the Unakos Road in the lower Mendi local level government was covered by landslides caused by the 7.5 magnitude earthquake on Feb 26 and ongoing aftershocks.
“Four schools in the area have suspended classes because of the damage to the road,” he said.
“I have already spoken to the National Disaster Committee to clear the road for people to use. This road serves almost 5000 people.
