Police at 6-Mile Police Station are doing their best to restore peace and order at Saraga and 6-Mile settlement to encourage economic activities there, Inspector Mark Mosinakave says.
He told The National that police apprehended two youths for alleged pickpocketing activities and other petty crimes in the area, including assaulting the public at the Saraga Market last Thursday.
“These two suspects have been on the run after stabbing a Goroka man at the Saraga bus stop in an attempt to snatch his belongings last year,” Mosinakave said.
He said they were conducting awareness, urging people to take ownership of their behaviour’s and leaders to assist them fight social issues but no one seemed to cooperate.
“These people should appreciate that they have a good market facility and other projects like the Saraga housing resettlement project and companies like the PNG Concrete Aggregates is operating next to them. These are projects that are bringing economic opportunities to benefit the people,” Mosinakave said.
