MORE than 6,000 women from 17 centres around the country are attending a week-long 17th Lutheran Renewal women’s conference in Lae, Morobe.
The women, from Southern region, Western Highlands, Jiwaka, Chimbu, Goroka, Kainantu, Madang, Port Moresby, Kimbe, Buka, Markham, Bulolo, Finschhafen, Siassi, Salamaua, Kabwum and hosts Lae were attending the conference.
The conference’s theme is based on the Book of Isaiah 2: 1-3, which aims to uplift women through God’s word.
Assistant coordinator Sao Kiddie said it was their first time to host such a conference in Lae.
“We want to uplift women and see them change from inside,”Kiddie said.
“Women are change makers and they make a difference wherever they are.
“The outcome of conference would be for mothers to help themselves.
“After this conference, it’s going to build women’s capacity.”
“They will use their skills and talents to venture into self-sustaining activities to help themselves.
“This is to ensure that we don’t get support from outside but internally raise money to host gatherings like this.
They must have bigger goals, and achieve greater things in life,” said Kiddie. There were more women speakers at the conference and Kiddie said mothers cannot be seen as housewives.
“They’re meant to be the change and cause changes in society.
