MORE than 90 Nazarene Church delegates from Papua New Guinea visited the late Dr Gene and Carolyn Hood’s graves in the United States.
PNG community in US president Win Okie acknowledged the PNG delegates and said that Gene had given his heart to PNG while he was alive and visiting his graveyard was not a surprise to his family.
“You people have made a right decision to visit his graveyard because he gave his 1611 original King James Version Bible from his collection to PNG as a special gift,” Okie said.
“These people have come to attend the International Nazarene Church Conference in Indianapolis and in the midst of their tight schedule, they have decided to visit the graveyard so we take them out.”
Meanwhile, the late Gene’s eldest son, Randy Hood, had welcomed them and said that he was happy to see the Nazarene Church delegates making time available to visit his parents’ graveyards.
Randy said that their visit meant a lot to his family as his late father had a big heart for PNG so as his family members and he was hoping that God would do great things in PNG for the coming years.
Nazarene Church PNG chairman Reverend Yambe Sike said that it was an honour to visit the couple’s grave site as they had donated a priceless gift and a treasure to the country.
