8-Mile Eagles make top-eight

A TRY by Robert Gan helped 8-Mile Mountain Eagles beat Keasu Spiders 4-0 and secure a top eight spot in a wash-out fixture of the Gerehu Off-season Rugby League at Gerehu Sports Centre in Port Moresby on Friday.
It was a tight encounter in which both teams struggled to beat the other’s defence and a 0-0 first half led to more of the same in the second 40 minutes until Gan found his way over the line for the match winner. With a top-eight spot riding on the outcome both sides were cautious.
Spiders’ Clifford Mel, Justin Kopen, David Gene and Mono Joe, made strong carries to pave the way for the backline but the Eagles were equal to the task and led by Timothy Tom, Samson Peter, Joel Dilly and Felix Aya they were able to defend their lead to the full time whistle.
