POLICE have confirmed that the white power found at an estate in Port Moresby is baking powder and not cocaine as suspected.
Assistant Police Commissioner Crime Hodge Ette said the white powder was taken from a warehouse at the Kennedy Estate.
“Tests were done on the powder at the police forensic laboratory. It was baking powder,” he said.
“The Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (Cepa) and National Fisheries Authority (NFA) are conducting their own investigation.
“Cepa is investigating the parched plants and dried deer penises.
“The NFA is investigating the crab storage facility and the permit for purchasing crabs.”
The reports of parched plants and dried deer penises recovered by police and fisheries officials in a raid at Kennedy Estate, Port Moresby, last Saturday went viral on social media.
The plant and venison may have been legitimately acquired from farmers and hunters.
But police are also investigating the possibility of poaching which is rampant in Gulf and Western.
The deer penis is said to contain a variety of health benefitting properties including enhanced libido for men.
The private residence contained a staff living quarters, a warehouse with some work implements, brand new outboard motors and a crab storage facility.
The authorities are also checking on how fisheries permits were issued to the Chinese owners conducting business in a residential area.
The Chinese owners contacted a lawyer who came to witness the raid jointly conducted by police and fisheries officials.
